Description

Amazonite is a variety of microcline, a mineral from the feldspar family. Recognizable by its color, ranging from pale green to blue-green, it often displays white streaks or inclusions that give it a unique texture. Although its name comes from the Amazon River, where it was believed to be mined, it is not commonly found there. The main deposits are located in Madagascar, Russia, Brazil, and the United States (Colorado). Used since ancient Egypt, Amazonite was prized for decorating ornamental objects and jewelry.
