Description

Fluorite is a mineral form of calcium fluoride, known for its vibrant range of colors from light green to deep purple. Fluorite is distinguished by its fluorescence under ultraviolet light and its ability to fracture into a perfect cleavage in four directions. This mineral is used both in industry for the manufacture of hydrofluoric acid and as an ornamental stone. Abundantly mined worldwide, it was first scientifically described in 1530.
