Description

Moonstone is a feldspar characterized by a pearly or opalescent luster. It gets its name from the silvery or bluish reflections reminiscent of moonlight. Historically prized in many cultures, often associated with femininity and fertility, its exploitation has been documented since antiquity. The main sources of extraction are located in India, Sri Lanka, Australia, and Madagascar. These stones, with their varied tones, from beige to pinkish brown as shown here, are often used in jewelry for their unique play of light.
