Jet

Jet, presented here as polished stones, is a form of lignite, a type of fossil coal. Originating mainly from Europe and Asia, this organic material comes from fossilized wood typically dating from the Jurassic to the Eocene periods, approximately 180 to 50 million years ago. It is characterized by its intense black color and relatively soft texture, making it easy to carve and polish. Historically, jet has been used for jewelry and art objects.
