Raw black obsidian

Black obsidian, presented here in rough fragments, is a natural volcanic glass formed by the rapid cooling of lava without crystallization. This stone is renowned for its smooth, vitreous surface and intense color, ranging from dark gray to deep black. Historically, obsidian was used by prehistoric peoples to make sharp tools and weapons due to its incisive edges when fractured. It is found mainly in volcanically active regions, such as those in Mexico, Italy, and Madagascar.
