Description

The septarian geode presented here combines clay minerals and calcite. Formed during the Mesozoic Era, these geodes are characterized by a rocky exterior and a spectacularly cracked heart, encrusted with calcite. Once buried, they formed from the contraction of mud around decaying organic matter, creating cracks that were later filled by precipitated minerals. Septarian geodes are often found in regions where mud deposits accumulated millions of years ago.

This geode is sold whole, as a pair.
