Chalcanthite

Chalcanthite, also known as copper(II) sulfate pentahydrate, is presented here in the form of vibrant blue crystals. This stone primarily forms from the oxidation of copper sulfide deposits, frequently in arid regions. These crystals are often exploited for their industrial implications in the manufacture of copper-containing chemicals. Although naturally less common, chalcanthite can also be synthetically produced for experimental or educational purposes. This mineral is particularly soluble in water, which can influence the stability of areas where it is found.
