Black tourmaline, also known as schorl, is a complex borosilicate of aluminum, abundantly endowed with iron. It is the most common member of the tourmaline family. The samples presented are polished, revealing a vitreous luster and an intense black color. Black tourmalines are primarily extracted from sites such as Brazil, Africa, the United States, and Australia. Historically, they have been used in jewelry and ornamentation since the 18th century. Highly valued for their understated beauty, these minerals are often employed in creations where simplicity and elegance are desired.
