Description

Selenite is distinguished by its translucence and vitreous luster, often perceived as lunar. Named in homage to the goddess Selene, it is thus associated with the white moon, a symbol of perfection, purity, and benevolence. Historically, this mineral has been exploited for various uses, including in the manufacture of plaster. Selenite is a variety of fibrous gypsum and forms mainly in sedimentary basins and regions rich in evaporites. Our tumbled stones illustrate the typical purity and clarity of selenite, used since antiquity for its aesthetic qualities.
