Description

Aragonite is a mineral species composed of calcium carbonate. It occurs as prismatic or tabular crystals with a color ranging from white to brown. Aragonite is often found in marine animal shells, caves, and hot spring deposits. This mineral was discovered in 1797 in Spain, in the Aragon region, from which it takes its name. Aragonite is also present in places such as Peru, Morocco, Italy, and Mexico.
