Stromatolite Peru

Stromatolite is a sedimentary rock formed by the fossilization of photosynthetic bacteria called cyanobacteria. These stones, originating from Peru, show concentric layers that attest to their sequential growth over millennia. Often dating from the Precambrian and extending into the Paleozoic era, they are among the oldest testimonies of life on Earth.
