Lepidolite or purple mica

Lepidolite, known as purple mica, is a mineral primarily composed of lithium and aluminum silicate. Its characteristic violet color comes from the presence of small amounts of lithium. This mineral is often extracted from pegmatitic deposits, and its main sources include Brazil, Russia, and Zimbabwe. Discovered in the mid-19th century, lepidolite was initially used as a source of lithium for medication before being valued in gemology for jewelry making and in collections for its captivating shades.
