Description

Kunzite is a variety of spodumene, known for its pink to lilac color. Discovered in 1902, it is named in honor of the mineralogist George Frederick Kunz, who was the first to study it. The main deposits are found in Afghanistan, Brazil, and the United States. This mineral is relatively new compared to other traditional gemstones, and its translucent shades can vary in intensity. Its soft color is due to traces of manganese. Kunzite is often used in jewelry for its delicate hue and vitreous luster.
