Banded white agate

Banded white agate is a type of quartz characterized by its inclusions and light-colored bands, often translucent to opaque. This variety of agate is formed in volcanic cavities where silica-rich water is deposited in successive layers. Renowned for its delicacy and subtle coloration, it comes mainly from volcanic regions where conditions are favorable for its formation, such as Brazil or India. Agates were used as early as antiquity for making ornamental objects and gems.
