Rhodochrosite on quartz cluster

Rhodochrosite, often characterized by its distinct pink color, is primarily composed of manganese carbonate. This mineral is recognized for its banded or stalactitic formations and is distinguished by its translucency and vitreous to pearly luster. It was discovered in Romania in the 13th century and is also mined in Argentina, where it is considered the national stone. Quartz, frequently associated with rhodochrosite in deposits, adds an interesting contrast with its texture and clear crystals.
