Description

Mahogany obsidian is a form of natural volcanic glass. Its characteristic reddish-brown hue comes from inclusions of iron and magnesium in the original rock. This specific variety of obsidian is less common than the classic black variant. It forms during the rapid cooling of lava without crystallization, thus retaining a vitreous state. Historically, obsidian was widely used for making sharp tools and weapons due to its keen edges when fractured.
