Crystallized pyrite

Pyrite, commonly known as "fool's gold," is an iron sulfide. It forms under hydrothermal conditions or in sedimentary rocks such as black shales. Historically, pyrite was used in early firearms for its ability to create sparks. It is commonly found in places like Spain, Italy, and Peru. Its crystalline structure gives it a distinctive metallic luster, making these stones particularly attractive for mineral collections.
